and more.
Our goal,
as your trainer/consultant,
is to enable you to
have the tools,
knowledge, and
support needed to be
successful as a
freight broker. To
begin you will
choose which dates
to attend a Freight
Broker Training 3
day Workshop in Fort
Smith, Ar
(transportation,
lodging and meals
not included). Once
your Workshop is
complete you will
have a 3 month (90
day) consulting
package containing
everything listed
above.
The Freight Broker
Training Workshop is
conducted every
Monday -
Wednesday
(arrangements can be
made for alternate
days if needed). Below is
an approximate

expect during your
FBT Workshop.
Day 1
(approximate

7:00 - 9:00
A.M.;
Breakfast available
9:00 A.M.;
Meet and
greet with your
TALTOA Consultant.
Day 1 of your FBT
Workshop officially
begins. The first
hour will be spent
on you, your
background,
transportation
experience and just
getting to know you.
Also discussed will
be your goals for
your brokerage and
your plans as to
obtaining your own
authority or
becoming a broker
agent.
10:00 -
12:00 Noon;
You
consultant will
explain the history
of brokering freight
as well as begin
discussing the
legalities involved.
Your consultant will
show you several
ways in which to
prospect for
clients. During this
time you will also
learn phone
techniques for
talking to prospects
and converting them
to clients/shippers,
also known as
"setting up a
shipper".
12:00 - 1:30

Lunch
1:30 - 3:00
P.M.;
A brief review of
prospecting new
clients and setting
them up as a
shipper. You will
begin learning how
to set rates for
your loads. This
includes creating a
rate for the
shipper, completing
a rate sheet, using
the computer to
assist you with
finding rates,
learning the
different lanes and
their rates.
3:00 - 4:30
P.M.;
The proper way to
work a load that
your shipper has
given you. This will
include computing a
rate in which to
offer a
truck/carrier,
understanding your
commission, using
different load
boards, working with
approved carriers,
using carrier
directories and
backhaul lists.
4:30 - 5:00

Review. End of day

local manufacturing
firm, the topic
"What A Shipper
Expects From A
Transportation
Provider".

sheets, developing
lanes, using
available truck
forms, selling loads
to carriers. In
addition your
consultant will
expand on the tips
and tricks of using
load boards for
maximum
effectiveness.
